DESCRIPTION:
The Athana TapeMaster is a complete computer-controlled system for testing and evaluating 8mm, 4mm and 1 /4-inch tape cassettes and cartridges.
The TapeMaster is an all-purpose "Go/No Go" certifier that writes a bit pattern on the tape and reads the pattern back. If the bit pattern is successfully read, the tape is passed; if the bit pattern cannot be read, the tape is failed, at the point on the tape where the data cannot be read.
The operator determines how much of the tape is to be tested. As little as one megabyte can be tested, or as much as five gigabytes.
The TapeMaster has been designed with special software and firmware to identify every read failure. The SCSI interface makes it possible for it to be used with all 8mm, 4mm and 1/4-inch drives designed for the SCSI interface.
