¼" Data Cartridges (QIC) are based on ¼" wide computer tape in a precision cartridge. The standard 5¼" size cartridges are used for higher capacity, higher performance drives, the smaller 3 ½" Mini Cartridge is used where low cost is important. Helical Scan DDS1 through DDS4 Cartridges (4mm & 8mm):These cartridges are used on backup systems based on a helical scanning mechanism similar to the mechanism in video recorders.
